So, for anyone that enjoys to go to concerts and listen to great music from the artists you are familiar with, we suggest the following going forward. Come to a Connecting Through Music showcase one time and we can assure you that you will be hooked. Not only do you save a whole lot of fees that popular ticket sites like to charge, but you will have the opportunity of listening to some of the best new music you would not otherwise get to hear and for a fraction of the cost. In fact, the money you save on the fees and taxes the other guys charge, you can use to buy you and your date or friends some food and drink and enjoy a buffet of music always mixing up the genres for one evening.
But if you really like this concept and want to truly support these independent music artists then you need to understand what goes into a performance at a venue and what venues want to pay them. What we are dealing with in today’s music environment is that most local venues and we don’t include the theatre type, don’t pay these artists what they are really worth. An average band in a local pub or restaurant that provides live music only pay an average of $400 to $1200 per band for a 4 hour set. That may seem like a lot to the average person, but there is so much more that goes into an artists performance. At the end of the day, they probably spent most of the day traveling to the venue, doing sound checks, perform, break down their equipment and either go to a local hotel or drive back home. That's a full day of work for just $400 to $1200 divided up by the number of band members. We don't know too many people that would work that many hours for that little money. That breaks down to about $12.50/hour for each with four members based on an 8 hour day; but it probably ends up to be more like a 12 hour day for them.
Now let’s look at what it would cost you to go to a Connecting Through Music Showcase where you will see up to six very carefully vetted independent music artists of mixed genres perform a 20-30 minute set or four to five songs each that will provide you some really great listening pleasure, not have to pay a cent to attend but to only spend some of your hard earned cash on some food and drink. We can assure you that you will be completely satisfied with your decision. But we want to take this to another level so that you can see how we want to provide this kind of experience, as it does come with some costs to us and these artists. So, instead of paying for those high costs to see artists you already know, you support the arts in music by providing a stipend to TBAIMS that will in turn give 85% of that stipend to the artists that perform and use the balance to support the efforts of finding you awesome new talent to hear just once a month. We would divide these stipends equally between all the bands and their members. For a small stipend, you get to come to a monthly showcase in a venue near you (as we add other venues once we get started) and enjoy an evening of great music, food and drink.
Compare that to three venues and three types of headliner music events in the State of Florida: If you wanted to go see Rod Stewart at the Amelia Arena for the least cost of a ticket, the cost for two tickets in the nose bleed section of the arena where you can hardly see the artists, the base cost is $91.50 (2x$45.75) plus fees of $44.50 to cost a total of $136.00. That does not include any food or drinks. If you wanted to go see Santana at the Midflorida Amphitheatre the least cost ticket for two would be $100.00 (2x $50.00) plus fees & taxes of $26.22 or a total of $125.22. And if you wanted two lawn seats instead, and this is what gets me, they made this even more expensive then in the past, two lawn seats would cost you $170.00 (2x$85.00 that was originally $80 each; they just raised it) and with the taxes and fees would cost you $211.93 (fees & taxes were $41.93) If you just wanted to go to Janus Live to see Action Bronson, you could do so for $30.50 each or two for $61.00 plus fees of $30.20 to total $91.20. Add your food and drinks and now you see how this all adds up!
So, can we count on your support for these artists? We know you won’t be disappointed and, in fact, you will have a time of your life for one evening a month at a fraction of what it would cost to see a headliner that you might be able to afford once a year or so. And we will build a list of our supporters to have on our website to thank you for your support and provide some surprise gifts as we build this concept.
At the end of the day, it is TBAIMS intent to build a family of venues along with a family of great talent to provide you with some great live original music where ever you may live at an affordable
price.
